“Good eats” are promised right in the name of this approachable neighborhood restaurant on the outskirts of the Mission, and La Cocina alum Isabel Caudillo delivers in full. Her menu highlights the cooking of her native Mexico City, featuring homestyle dishes like her signature guisados, as in tender, pork ribs slowly simmered in salsa verde, served with nopales and plenty of warm, handmade corn tortillas to mop up every last drop of the delectable sauce. The focused menu is rounded out with other classics: pambazos, chiles rellenos and fresh-fried tortilla chips accompanied by a hefty scoop of guacamole and zippy house-made salsas. Save room for Caudillo’s desserts, like a chocoflan that combines silky caramelized custard and rich chocolate cake.
